Welcome to the first tad of news I'm putting on my site about Mick Hucknall, and the music group, Simply Red. It won't be much at first, but hopefully soon it will include all the back-articles from major magazines and newspapers I can find (That'll take some research). That includes reviews on albums and any other little juicy tidbits I come across. But for now.....
** (11-5-99) I found this review of "Love And The Russian Winter" on New Musical Express.
I also found an article on the release of LATRW from Launch.com. Nothing much new here reported that we might've not read before.
** (11-3-99) Several things to pass along today.
1. I made a lot of changes to the New Flame website. Check them out!
2. "Ain't That a Lot of Love" has fallen from #14 to #31 on the Dotmusic top 75 singles (UK chart) in its second week.
3. "Love and the Russian Winter" was released in stores yesterday. Go to your nearest record store and buy it! :-)
4. Go here to RadioEins to hear an online interview with Mick on the new album. It's a little over 30 minutes long. You'll need Windows media player or RealPlayer to watch it. Thanks to Helga for posting it on the REdWEb board.
** (10-31-99) I found this short article on a site called Channel V. The article in the club/dance news section talks about the release of "Love and the Russian Winter" and the overall dance feel to it.
** (10-30-99) I want to clarify something posted yesterday. The VH1 interview with Mick will be on VH1 Europe, not VH1 America. I received (coincidentally) emails from Shann (who posted the original message) and VH1 America, clarifying the schedules.
Also found an article on the release of "Ain't That A Lot of Love" and "Love and the Russian Winter" on Dotmusic.
** (10-29-99) Several little bits to pass along today.
1. Read a very interesting article on Mick's feelings about music during, um, romantic moments. :-) It appeared in an German magazine online. Those of you who understand German can click here to read it. Click here for an English translation. I want to thank Helga for passing this along and translating it.
2. Looks like the official Simply Red is about to undergo a major makeover in preparation for the album's release. You can click here to see the start of it. You can still access the old site through the main page or just click here if you're lazy. :-).
3. The official release date (at least for America because I checked *G*) is still November 2nd, but the album has already been released Friday in Austria. The official tracklist (thanks to Helga again for this, too) is as follows:
The Spirit Of Love4. Click here to read an article on the release of "Love and the Russian Winter." This has an artist biography and discography. The really neat thing about that is it has a video clip for the first single, "Aint Nothing But Love" and audio clips for "Ain't That A Lot of Love," "Your Eyes," "Thank You," and "The Spirit of Life." There's also an audio clip for "Just Say You Love Me" from the "Blue" album. Just click on Mick on the main page to get in. Everything is written in German but to get to the clips, The article is written in German, but move the mouse cursor over the moving picture on the left, then click on "audio+video" to access the clips. You'll need RealPlayer to listen to/watch the clips. You can download a free copy from Real.com if you don't have it installed already.

5. Apparently Mick is going to be on VH1 in the coming weeks (haven't confirmed whether it's VH1 America or VH1 in Europe). Shann posted this on the REdWEb board:
Hi, there is going to be an interview with Mick on Talk Music on VH1, I think it's on Sunday 31st Oct 12.30pm and again at 4.30 Wednesday 3rd November at 4.30pm, try and check these times before setting those videos. Simply Red are on Top of The Pops this Friday, the BBC TOTP teletext site has them listed for this week (page 562 BBC1) if it's strong enough for TV why not Radio 1?6. "Ain't That a Lot of Love" is #14 on the Dotmusic top 75 singles (UK chart) in its first week.
7. "FHM" mag has a four-page interview and a photo of Mr. Hucknall inside. Thanks for Chris for passing this along on the REdWEb board, and for American fans interested in this article, I've managed to find the magazine at the Virgin Megastore (at least in Las Vegas).
** (10-25-99) Simply Red's new album, "Love and the Russian Winter," will be released November 2, according to CDNow. CDNow is also taking advanced orders of this album right now. I wanna thank Sally for putting that up on her board on the REdWEb website. I also received the following dotmusic article a couple of weeks ago through my New Flame Picture Book mail list. I want to thank Frank for passing it along. And sorry it's taken so long for me to get this up.
"Simply Red plan a simultaneous global release for their forthcoming single 'Ain't That A Lot Of Love' and following album, 'Love And The Russian Winter'. The single will be delivered to the global marketplace on October 18 with the album following on November 1.
